My sister, Sarah, just gave birth to my nephew, Evan Daniel Zaengle at 8:59pm today (only 3 weeks early).  He was 6lbs and 4 oz.  Wow, Sarah...look at what you did!  I was lucky enough to get to talk to her on the phone after the whole ordeal.  I don't think I've ever heard her sound so tired!  Congrats, big sis!

The ability to overcome great fear...

Today was a personal milestone for me.  I went to the gym to work out, like I have been for the last few months.  I got to the pool and the water was clearer and cleaner than I had ever seen it before.  When I got in, the temperature was just right.  So, I started doing my normal lengths.  There were two other people swimming with me, at the time.  But as soon as I completed my first two lengths, those people got out.  For those of you that don't know this, I am deathly afraid of being in the water.  The less people in the water with me, the more terrified I get.  One of the reasons I started swimming in the first place was to try to deal with that fear.  Until today, I have never been in any large body of water by myself; be it a swimming pool, a lake, or most assuredly the ocean (hello, sharks!!!).  So, when those two people got out, I just sort of stood at the end of the pool staring at what seemed like a gigantic body of water, quietly waiting to swallow me up.  A large, growing part of me was screaming  to get out.  I almost did.  But I took a moment to try to calm down and get it under control, which is a huge leap in itself.  I was hoping someone else would show up to use the pool, but no one did.  As I stood there, I just thought to myself, "This is the reason you started swimming in the first place...so start swimming."  But I just continued to stand there at the edge of the pool.  Finally, I just thought, "Fuck it, who wants to live forever," and starting swimming.  I'm proud to report that I swam 3 lengths in the pool, completely alone, before someone showed up.  It was pretty terrifying/exhilarating.  I don't know if I'm ready to start swimming in the ocean anytime soon (I've only ever been in it up to my waist...on a crowded beach) but at least it's a step in the right direction.  Plus, it's just one more reason why I would make a kick-ass Green Lantern :-)

The Drill and the DMV

It' root canal time at last.  It actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it be actually.  But I'm get ahead of the story.

The DrillCollapse )

I also tried to get my scooter licensed the same day since as the dentist since I was already taking time off for the dentist.

The DMVCollapse )

Finally, a few updates to my weight loss/work out endevour.

Current lengths in the Pool : 40
Current weight lost since the beginning of the Biggest Loser Contest at work : 29 lbs

I'm pretty sure that means that I moving from "almost irresistible" to "completely irresistible".

Some Garbage I came up with...

Stolen from brennas_life  who stole it from someone else...

Pick an artist, and using ONLY SONG TITLES from only that artist, cleverly (preferably) answer these questions. This is harder than it seems!

ADDITIONAL RULE: You cannot use the same artist I did, or duplicate song titles even if they were performed by another artist.

The Amazing Race

Last weekend, Johnny and I applied for "The Amazing Race".  It was a bit of an effort since we had to shoot the video on Saturday, I had to edit on Sunday, and I had to next day air it on Monday to make the 5pm cutoff time on Tuesday.  Also, it was kind of cold and windy on the day of the shoot, which provided a few obstacles.  Against the elements, the video still turned out better than I thought it would.  If it's good enough to get us on the show has yet to be seen.  However, we've thrown our hat into the ring and now all we can do is wait for the call.

Now what?
